		<description>A couple of points: 

1) If plug-in hybrids continue to develop the way many folks seem to think, you&#039;re going to need a non-emitting source of electricity to power them -- and nuclear is the largest non-emitting source out there.

2) On the safety question: No one has ever died in the U.S. as the result of an accident at a nuclear power plant.  The American nuclear industry learned some hard lessons because of Three Mile Island, and they took them to heart thanks to INPO, the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations. 3) Chernobyl was a tragedy and an avoidable one.  Some other things to keep in mind: The reactor at Chernobyl was completely different than Western designs.
